Insider Tips for your Destination Wedding in Roatan: Skincare How-to

This is it, you are finally ready for that long awaited destination wedding in Roatan, the sun, the sea, the breeze caressing your face, sand at your feet and the sound of crashing waves, you can feel it all before you even arrive. You think of it while packing your bags and getting ready to grab your plane the next day. Oh the marvel of your dreamed wedding at last! All the thrilling activities to come beneath the sun!

Talking about the sun, you may wonder how to make the most of your time while taking care of yourself. Tropical sun as it is can come a bit strong so we want to provide you with some beach day skincare tips:

Take vitamin B12

B12 is a water-soluble vitamin responsible for many body functions and helps improve your stamina, mood, muscle health and keeps your skin and hair healthy. If applied topically it reduces skin dryness making it a perfect ally on beach days. Taking this supplement will also keep you protected from mosquitoes and other bugs that are naturally found on our island. After all, you will be surrounded by nature!

Sunscreen!

When visiting Roatan, always take sunscreen with you. It's important to apply it on your face and body, but don´t forget the often neglected body parts like hands, feet, ears, neck and chest. You should also remember your lips as they are more susceptible to burning, a lip balm with SPF 15 will help keep them hydrated and safe. Sunscreen should be applied at least 15 minutes prior to rolling on your beach blanket or dive, this allows the sunscreen to be absorbed into the skin and be more effective, if you´re splashing in the water remember to reapply every 30 minutes. Try to find a natural formula with few harmful chemicals, not only is this good for your skin but also keeps the coral reef system safe.

Stay Hydrated

The sun is wonderful but being over exposed to it while enjoying your different activities in Roatan could lead to dehydration so keep in mind you should avoid being under direct sunlight for extended periods of time and carry water or drinks with electrolytes. Drinking plenty of fresh, cold water throughout the day will keep you active and safe. If you’re looking for an alternative refresher, try coconut water or snacking on fruits with high water content. Essentially, any juicy kind of produce is good but some especially good choices are watermelon, grapefruit and oranges.

Fresh clothing

Packing for a destination wedding is probably one of the hardest things to do as you want to both look good, feel comfortable, and be prepared for every scenario. For hot summer days we recommend linen, cotton and any natural fibers as they are breathable and absorbent, making them perfect for tropical island weather. Linen and cotton allow more airflow so your skin breaths and sweats less keeping you comfortable and looking great.

So now that we are all set up on how to take care of our skin while you enjoy your destination wedding with us, we want to recommend you take diving lessons while in Roatan. The coral reef is a must.
